Dr. Brooke Rundle is the owner and founder of Headstrong Mindset LLC. Brooke has an EdD in Sport Performance Psychology at the University of Western States. Brooke is currently pursuing certification as an AASP certified mental performance consultant (CMPC) and has worked as an independent mental performance consultant with USA Volleyball’s National Team Development Program (NTDP), in addition to several NCAA collegiate athletes and teams in volleyball, soccer, track, cross country, softball, baseball, and tennis.
Brooke’s approach to mental performance consulting focuses on developing the whole person by connecting the relationship between thoughts, feelings, behavior, and performance. Brooke uses a holistic, inclusive, and multicultural framework for team-building that explores how social identities impact interpersonal communication, relationship dynamics, and performance among teams. Brooke’s specialities include building team-cohesion, reducing performance anxiety, overcoming maladaptive perfectionism and negative self-talk, improving athletes’ reaction to error, and interpersonal conflict resolution, in addition to the development of team culture, leadership skills, and the integration of mindfulness based techniques.
Brooke has spoken on the topics of LGBTQ+ inclusion, athlete mental health and performance at several notable conferences including the Pac-12 Health Equity Summit, the Human Rights Campaign’s Time to Thrive Conference, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Convention, and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Conference. Brooke co-authored a publication for the AASP Newsletter titled Inclusive and Affirming Support for Transgender and Gender-Nonconforming Athletes. She also authored and self-published the book Headstrong, a mindset training book focused on volleyball.
Brooke’s commitment to social justice is evidenced by their advocacy for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sports. They are a volunteer at the Sports Equality Foundation (SEF), a community advocacy network for LGBTQ+ athletes, coaches, and sports professionals. They also have experience developing workshops and facilitating group trainings focused on deconstructing implicit bias, increasing awareness around minority stress, and educating university athletic teams and faculty members on matters of LGBTQ+ inclusion that are unique to collegiate athletics.
Brooke is originally from California, but resides in Denver, Colorado with her wife Hannah and dog Stevie Budd.
